Faq's about our Plainfield landscaping services -

1. what are the benefits to having a landscape design?
A landscape plan allows you to envision the end result and also make changes along the way. Using a plan allows for a precision installation of paver patios, walkways, retaining walls, plantings, and ponds to achieve your landscape utopia.

2. When can I plant my vegetable garden?
Again waiting until the threat of frost is well out of the forecast is best

3. Why choose 4 Seasons Landscaping for you project?
The owner Fred Davis has done work in Plainfield,IL for 10 years. He established the company in 1997 and continues to take extreme pride in the professionalism of his employees, designs, and installations.

4. When do I aerate my lawn?
Most lawns only need aeration when compacted soil becomes a problem. They don´t need to be aerated twice a year. Soil compaction can become a problem if your lawn receives a lot of foot or vehicle traffic. The problem is likely to arise sooner if you have a soil with lots of clay.

5. When is the best time of year to do landscape installation?
Spring and Fall are the ideal planting times. However with proper care and watering plants can thrive at anytime of year. Patios, retaining walls, and hardscape items can be installed spring, summer, or fall.

6. How do i keep squirrels and other pests from digging up my bulbs?
You can add chili pepper to the soil around your bulb plantings to give the squirrels a spicy surprise. Or you can mix in pea gravel with the soil. The gravel is not as inviting for little animals to dig.

7. How often should I cut my grass?
Mowing a lawn approximately once a week will keep it short, clean, and beautiful.

8.How do you install a paver patio in Plainfield?
A properly installed patio involves excavating existing soil, placement and compaction of gravel base, setting sand bed, paver installation and compaction followed by polymeric sand, swept into joints to help prevent weed germination.

9. What materials do you use for retaining wall and paver installations in Plainfield?
We offer Unilock, Belgard, Pavelock, natural stone, Rockwood, Anchor Wall. Specific materials call for availability.

10. What type of warranty do you offer in Plainfield?
4 Seasons Landscaping offers a 1 year warranty on installed trees, shrubs, retaining walls, and pavers.

11. How do I control weeds in my planting beds?
In early spring apply a pre-emergent herbicide to your planting beds. Be sure to apply before you see new weeds starting to germinate.

12. When is it ok to plant grass seed or sod?
Wait until the threat of frost is out of the forecast. If new grass seeds germinate and then freeze, they will die. Typically late april and may is the best time to plant seed or install sod.

13. When should I plant my bulbs?
